Pain that suddenly disappears

Now, I'm not complaining. I am just a little confused.

I've had a pain behind my left shoulder blade for the last 4 weeks. Right behind the sharp bit in my back. It didn't stop me swimming at all (have swum 2 a week for last 2 years) but was uncomfortable in bed, hurt when I coughed and sneezed.

Over the bank holiday, it increased in intensity and I was in agony on Monday night, to the extent that I couldn't pull myself off the sofa using that arm. I planned on calling the Docs on Tuesday to try and get an afternoon appointment.

Lunchtime yeterday, the pain vanished. Literally vanished and I have no pain at all now. Not lessened, not eased. Gone. It doesn't even ache if I rotate it, pull it, cough hard.

Why?

I'm delighted to have a pain free body, but would like this little mystery solved.

Could it have been a trapped nerve that got released?

I have similar shoulder pain off and on. Mine is def related to compute/phone use and sleeping with my hand behind my head. It can be very bad for a few days and then stop completely for a while. I think it us probably when the muscle goes out of spasm as there is a very prominent 'knot' in my back when it is bad

Thanks both.
I was thinking perhaps a trapped nerve. It was totally grim though so am delighted it's gone.
