Worried I have lymphoma...

Found a large lump on right side of my neck a couple of days ago. Dp (trainee GP) immediately concerned as I've been having drenching night sweats too. Also very tired and itchy. Apart from the lump, I'd put the other stuff down to pregnancy and breastfeeding (DS 16 weeks old).
Obviously I've consulted dr Google and am petrified I've got lymphoma. Or leukaemia.
Went to my GP who have referred me for an ultrasound scan and blood tests.
Just posting for some hand holding, haven't told anyone in RL. We have an 8yo dd too. I'm 33, did smoke up until found the lump.
Thanks Brew

Oh you poor thing how worrying for you.

Don't rehearse disaster, could be lots of other things: thyroid? Cyst? DSis has had this several times and biopsies have always come back benign, apparently her lump is 'just one of those things' so please don't assume the worst.

It's brilliant you have been so brave and are having it looked at, and that you have stopped smoking, you should be proud of yourself.

Oh, other thing they thought DSis might have was glandular fever, think symptoms are similar and is much more common than lymphoma.

Try not to let your DH worry you, there are lots of doctors in my family too, it's not always helpful!

I'm sorry you are going through this.

I just wanted to say I had drenching night sweats for 8 months every single night after I had my ds. I was breast feeding too. It suddenly went away and comes back now during my period. Tiredness can also be from having a new baby.

What did you gp say about lump? When you say large what size?x

PluggyMug · 04/05/2014 23:43

Sorry you're scared. Fwiw, I and a lot of friends had horrendous night sweats post natally. I hope all is ok for you.

MistletoeBUTNOwine · 05/05/2014 00:14

About 3x2 cm. I thought sweats were/are hormonal.
Was a junior gp I saw, she said didn't feel like a gland, called in senior partner who agreed, said maybe a cyst. Refer for scan.
I hate waiting Hmm

Checked with ultrasound department (I work at the hospital) and no referral received Hmm so rang GPs who said was sent on Thursday! Angry
Tick tock, waiting waiting. Lump still there and overwhelming fatigue more likely due to night feeds but can't help putting it down as a 'symptom' Sad

Hand holding

We thought my DS lymphoma - he was pale, lethargic and he also had night sweats and about 6 lumps he had an ultrasound and blood Tests and was watched by an oncologist for a few months.
Turns out he had an autoimmune disorder which mimicked the Sympotoms of lymphoma, I know it doesn't really help just trying to say it may not be and I hope there is a less frightening explanation for your symptoms also.

Thanks
