I'd be very grateful for any advice from a dental health professional.
I've had what turns out to have been a chronic abscess.
The small bony bump over the root of my upper second premolar increased in size on Tuesday/Wednesday last week. The dead tooth was drilled to drain the abscess on Thursday morning and I was given antibiotics, just in case, which I started that evening because the soft tissue over the lump had swollen.
I rang the practice on Saturday and was told the abs take a while to work but the soft tissue swelling has spread sideways across the gum over adjacent teeth and I'm concerned they'll be affected.
The next stage of the root canal is booked for the end of May, but should I get emergency treatment sooner to sort out the soft tissue swelling if it's not draining through the tooth?
TIA
