Bleeding after endometrial biopsy, is this normal?

I had an endometrial biopsy at the beginning of last week after lots of problems with my periods.
I found it very painful (no pain relief).
Had some bleeding after but was like the bleeding at the end of a period.
This has since become heavier (and am having to use a pad), eg toilet bowl is red with blood when I have a wee. I am also having period like cramps (my period isn't due for another couple of weeks).
The clinic wont be open until Tuesday so I cant speak to them until then.

Is this normal? Feeling (and looking) quite rough and getting slightly anxious now. There is very little info online.
Thanks

Hi there!
I had the same procedure on Tuesday last week. It wasn't a pleasant experience so you have my sympathies.

Re bleeding, I lost some fresh blood on the day but pretty much nothing the day after so thought I had got off lightly. However on Thursday, Friday and Saturday I was bleeding quite heavily, similar to what you describe, and feeling quite rough.

Today, no bleeding so far though a bit of low down stomachache.

Post op advice seemed to centre around looking out for signs of infection (increasing pain, smelly discharge, running a temperature) so if you have any of that I would say don't wait until Tuesday to seek medical advice. I was also advised to avoid exercise as that could increase bleeding. I was given some meds to take to prevent bleeding as apparently I bled a lot during the procedure, but I didn't fancy them so they are still in the packet.

Hope things improve for you soon.

Thanks Marshy, not the nicest experience is it?!

They said very little to me when I left and I felt ok after a few hours so did a dance class that night then pilates and then some heavy gardening later in the week, so probably not ideal.

Pain is worse as is bleeding so will check my temperature.

Hope you feel better soon.

WOnder why there is so little info on the internet about it...

Btw what are the meds they gave you?

Yes, the procedure was worse than i anticipated and i think I'm fairly stoical about this kind of thing!

That does sound like a lot of exercise. Maybe take it easy today but don't hesitate to get further advice from a doc if you are worried.

Meds are tranexamic acid. I have visited the hysterectomy thread a bit and I think I've seen that mentioned there in the context of stemming bleeding. You may want to post there as lots of advice and support available.

Thanks I didn't think of posting there, am hoping I'm not at that stage yet but will take a look!
I actually have some Tranexamic acid - I am presribed them for my periods so may take some.
