Could flying have made things worse?

When I flew over to Germany with ds and the dd's ds had a cold, but it wasn't too serious. Once we arrived he quickly deteriorated and ended up spending nine days in hospital with bronchiolitis. Some people have said to me that flying might have contributed to that, because of the air conditioning on board etc.
Is there any truth in that do you think?

If he already had a cold chances are the virus (RSV) was already in his system. Please don't beat yourself up about it. dd had hers less than 2 weeks after flying from UK but that could have simply been a coincidence as it is really common among under 1's.
