Weird visuals with codeine?

Is this something I need to talk to a gp about? I've taken co-codamol loads before without issue. I've restarted it for an instant inflammatory arthritis flare under GPs advice. I'm fine with low dose in the day time but at night on 30mg I've started having brightly coloured kaleidoscopic visuals at night. They are there eyes open or closed but less with eyes open. It's rather distracting as I try to sleep!

If its something that doesn't matter that's fine, I'll put up with it but if I should be concerned I'll talk to the gp. I'd rather not though as my choice of medication is getting more and more limited as my stupid body rebels.

I've had this with tramadol sometimes. I now avoid it later in the day but can take codeine without problems. Strange.

Bodies and medicine are funny old things! Tramadol makes me too buzzy and wired.

I collapsed unconcious after taking 60 mg of codeine on an empty stomach.
BIL had taken the same dose weeks earlier and then had a few beers and was fine.
I had previously taken 30 mg and was oK.

That's rather scary digerd!

I took shitloads of codeine once for a tooth infection and started seeing lightning bolts coming out of my fingertips. Be careful!
