My DP is covered neck to feet in psoriasis and is in a lot of pain / misery with it. It seems to have been triggered by a bout of tonsillitis - internet search shows there's some kind of link although what is not clear. He is desperately worried as we are due to go on holiday next month and it just seems to get worse and worse...

He is using Dovobet gel, Diprobase, sun beds, Aveeno. Also been back and forwards to the doctors who have given him a dermatology referral but this won't be in time for our holiday.

Any other suggestions wise people?

Random, sometimes flexural psoriasis can have a yeast infection component and something like trimovate might help.

RandomMess · 05/05/2014 22:02

Yeah we have trimovate, how long should I give it before I trudge back to the drs Sad

She never complains about pain but is with this Sad

OhYouBadBadKitten · 05/05/2014 22:16

Poor love. If there is no change after 2 weeks I'd be back.

RandomMess · 05/05/2014 22:19

Ok will do, we see the dermatolgist but tbh I don't find the registrar we're stuck with easy to understand or helpful - it has been very frustrating as the consultant was fantastic.

Everytime we make a hospital appt it cancelled numerous times and they always seem to run incredibly late and not gain anything from it Sad

It can be a very frustrating system :(

I had 95% coverage and was in so much pain I coudnt get dressed and basically lived in my pjs, couldnt go near a shower etc. It was the worst part of my life. I was desperately unhappy.

After 6 months like this i went on a juice fast for a month, drank i litre carrot juice every morning and then lunchtime, apple and green juice and evening i would eat oily fish, broccoli drenched in lemon juice and green tea.

It took about 6 weeks, but my p started clearing and has never come bak with the same intensity.

If yu cant face this, the most critical thing to avoid is:

caffeine
nictotine
alcohol
nightshades (google)
processed food
sugar

Sorry. its a tough tough road and i still have a fair bit of it. I doubt it would heal i time but on hols, get in the sea as much as possible and dont bother with suncream on the psoriasis lesions - sunshine is excellent for it. I know the last point is controversial.
If you want reading material look for the:

Pagano Diet
Jason Vale juicing

There are also some excellent FB support groups such as psoriasis buddy run by a guy called jon maddison.

But i think your first task would be to get to GP and get a referreal into dermatology.

I have had this for about 40 years.
My regret is all the money wasted on so called cures.
Personally I tend to have flare ups. Stress makes it so much worse. Sunshine is the best that helps. Hence a holiday which relaxes me and the sun helping.
My scalp was dire and in desperation I went to Lush. I use their soak and float solid shampoo.and conditioner from them.
For skin moisturiser I use the body shop bronzing oil. (Oils tend to be best with my awful skin)
I did use aveeno and dovobet but now Enstillar which seems good.
It does take time .
What helps me is I do not try to hide it. It someone doesnt like it , tough their problem .
Wishing you well
