Adult braces - support needed!

I'm 43 and had fixed braces put in today, top and bottom. My teeth aren't aching yet. The first food I had? Kiwi fruit. I took one mouthful then realised it was a mistake - all those seeds! I've just eaten a soft tea of gnocchi, tomato sauce and over cooked broccoli. I think most of it is still stuck in my braces. I've got a year of this!

God, I totally sympathise! I really need braces but have to prove my teeth can be kept clean. There was a lot of bleeding at the checks so the orthodontist want a me to sort this first. So not looking forward to it, mine will be 18months though.

Good luck. I've heard a water pik is good for getting bits out?

water pik - I will Google it...

Stay away from caviar too!

Had fun cleaning that out of the removable appliance I had years ago. Luckily by the time I had fixed braces I was a veggie.

I found the fixed one much less uncomfortable than the removable.

Good luck with it. I was also in my forties when I finally got my teeth sorted. So worth it.

Fish pie and cauliflower cheese were my go to foods after I had mine adjusted.

Hi lights on

How are you finding them today? Achy? Just wondered how your lips are bearing up, do they get all shredded?

LightsOnNotIn · 30/04/2014 19:59

a bit achey yes. My lips are fine - so far. Amazed I haven't got ulcers or sores. planning on buying ice cream and fish pie tomorrow. Soft comfort food.
