First mamogram today and convinced they saw something

I just turned 50 and went for my first mammogram just half an hour ago. I am freaking out and completely convinced they something and i am pretty sure I did too!! The lady asked to do my left breatt again as she hadn't got a good picture, so she said! Then she left the pic up whilst I got dressed and I am sure I could see a white spot on the x ray in the middle of the breast. i am totally panicking. As i left she went up to the receptionist with my notes and was speaking quietly with her.

OMG, someone please say something to help me calm down, she said 3 weeks for results but if it is bad news, when and how do they contact you?? Feel sure it is bad news.

Thank you.

Not sure if this helps but I had a mammogram on the Tuesday and had a recall letter on the Thursday. I am sure if they suspect anything is wrong you are called back very quickly.

I always go with no news is good news round here.

Goodluck and try not to worry too much

tricky, can see why you're worried but it's really, really common for them to have to have two goes at a mammogram. Hope you hear good news soon.

My first mammogram had to be repeated on both sides, and a very painful experience it was too! I had pain all week and itching that went on cyclically for months. (Dr Google said this was BC, but I finally found something that suggested mastitis and thought Yes! I recognise that feeling, changed to very sensible underwear and prepared to go to the doctor then next month but it had gone :) )

The mammogram result came back fine, though.

tricky please don't worry about this, a lot of women are recalled at their first mammogram, because the medical staff don't have any baseline mammograms to look at to know what is normal for you.

This is my story - not to worry you further - hopefully to reassure you....

I have been recalled from my first mammogram, just a few months ago and I know what you are going through. They took two photos of my right breast, just saying that they wanted to get a clearer picture for the doctor. She also told me that quite a high percentage of women are recalled, so not to worry if that happened. (So of course I worried immediately). About a week later I got a recall with an appointment two days later. As soon as I arrived at the recall, they explained that they had seen something and wanted to take a closer look. I was seriously terrified. Basically they had seen a white mass, maybe about a centimetre or so wide, which they showed me. The doctor looked at it with ultrasound, and literally within about 60 seconds, told me it was fine, just a collection of cysts on the milk ducts quite close together. They explained it was quite common and quite normal.

Out of five friends who had mammograms this year (we had requested them, not due to be called up yet) three of us were recalled for similar things.

Thank you everyone. So, it surely is the case that she saw something because she did 2 x pics of the same side and said she needed all the breast tissue on there and I really feel that was an excuse to get another picture.... it must be that she saw SOMETHING.....

It is harder to get a clear picture, the younger you are, because the tissue is thicker. So it probably more likely with the first mammogram.
