Tailbone pain

I've lost nearly 5 stone since july and now my tailbone hurts if I sit on something soft eg. sofa, getting up is the worst bit and can't sit in one position for long. I presume this is because I am no longer padded like I was. Has anyone found a way to relieve this?

sounds like inflammation round the coccyx, have you had a fall recently or a change in exercise?

I had this after sliding down the stairs drunk and it was sore for about 6 months. Nothing the GP could do apart from give me anti inflammatories, I'm afraid.

Might be worth getting checked out though.

We recently moved so obviously was a lot of lifting and moving of stuff so could have done something then, I cant pinpoint anything directly to causing it though. Yes will be seeing dr but our appointments are always ages from booking so thought I'd try to find a way to help before then.

the gp recommended I sit on a doughnut cushion or a soft cushion, so you could give that and ibuprofen a try.

or Wine

I've had this since giving birth. 18 bloody months ago. Got some anti inflammatories from the GP but I can't take them forever. I just have to put up with it. They think I might have broken my tailbone in labour :-/

That's a long time Paddington Sad. I didnt realise you could break it whilst giving birth.

Its really not nice is it. We went to the cinema on sat and I couldnt enjoy it as I had to keep shifting myself every few mins. I was almost glad when it was over so I could get up.

Shock that's terrible, Paddington!

It only aches when sitting down. When I press the bottom tip of the tailbone it is very sore, like pressing hard on a bruise. I wasn't even aware of my tailbone pre birth so it must be to do with that. Plus my labour was a back to back forceps 4th degree tear mess. I've only been to the doctors once, I'm kind of used to it now and try and sit slightly to one side.

Same with sitting. I do find myself doing more being a bit more reluctant to sit down. Will see if a doughnut cushion helps, im sure I had one somewhere.

You can get a special coccyx cushion on Amazon. Son has bad coccyx pain and is starting to see a chiropractor. It def sounds birth related. Your coccyx is designed to flare out a little to increase the birth outlet but in a difficult birth it could have been damaged. I suggest GP requesting an X-ray and physio referral.

Hope you feel better soon.
