Recurring UTIs - help

Sept 13 I got a bad chest infection that needed 2 weeks of antibiotics to clear. I subsequently got a UTI, no real history if UTIs previously, had a week of one antibiotic with no result, 3 days of another when the results came back that the infection was resistant to most antibiotics so needed a third one. This did clear the infection.
About a month later another UTI and another dose of the correct antibiotics.
Twice more I have had to go and get antibiotics for UTIs since.

I am now on day 5 of antibiotics for a chest infection and can feel another UTI, will have to go to doc in morning

Has anyone any history of recurring UTIs and can give me some advise. Does this seem a lot of UTIs esp since I to my recollection maybe only had 2 in my entire adult life. Should I ask for a referral to someone, or maybe a longer dose, or anything else.

I'm very prone to UTIs and the only thing that helps is no coffee (doctor recomended going without it) and pints and pints of water. my doctor won't refere me til I've had 10 UTIs in a year Sad
So i'm drinking lots of water (1 pint every hour from the moment I wake up til Igo to bed) and i'm getting them less and less.

Thanks for your reply. I am a mad latté addict and have a lot of coffee so will try cutting that out. Have upped my water intake in last 3 months to those levels - honestly don't think I could drink more :)
10 seems a lot in a year but I'm on 5 in 8 months so I suppose it's feasible but I might push doctor to see if they could be more lenient

I did notice a large difference once I gave up coffee (and got over the cravings!)
You could try a different doctor?
