Anyone had UVB phototherapy?

I have severe eczema and as I'm breastfeeding can't take anything orally, the creams aren't helping. My dermatologist has suggested UVB light phototherapy that I start on Thursday. It's an intensive course of 3 sessions a week for 6 weeks. Anyone else got experience of this?

I've had this for psoriasis and found it very efficient. The treatment itself took seconds, then gradually increased in length to two minutes. DS, who was 6 months at the time, waited in his buggy, being entertained by the lovely nurse. I did not have sunburn or any other side effects.

Me too alpacacino it's driving me crazy! Nice to hear from someone else, was a bit concerned about the side effects! Did you get a tan?

Dd has had it and traipsing up to the hospital for 20 seconds on a sun bed was not my idea of fun but my god it was like a miracle cure!

They built up the time under the lights really slowly and dd did get some colour but it was only noticeable because it was January/February

Sadly, it's supposed to be UVA that that gives you a tan, UVB actually causes the sunburn (that's why the treatment is carefully monitored). But I found that after this treatment, my skin did tan in the summer for the first time!

I had it for Psoriasis when I was a teenager (37 now). Once you've got past the fact that you're going to hospital regularly for less than a minute's treatment it's absolutely brilliant. As said by a previous poster, it's like a miracle cure.

I had it at the end of 2014, it worked so well and gave me completely normal skin, after approx 7 years of severe exzema. It was slightly annoying going to the hospital so much but so so worth it, although sadly the effects only lasted for about two months and it's now worsening again.
