Periods return after having a baby

I was just wondering when people's periods started again after having their baby?

My little one is 15weeks, I combination (breast and bottle) fed until she was 5weeks old then I moved onto formula alone, but my period still haven't returned except for a small amount of spotting in week 6 and again in week 7. Is this normal, and how long did it take for everyone else to return to normal again?

Thanks Hun, think they can be delayed when your breastfeeding, I breastfeed my eldest a lot longer and my periods returned before I stopped breastfeeding so I have no idea what to expect this time.
I lost a lot of blood during delivery and am wondering if being anaemic still may affect them, or if this a normal amount of time to wait, just wanting some other mummy's experiences before I book to see a doctor :)

Hey, I stopped bf at 8 weeks and went to bottle and my period came back at almost 5 months post natal

My DD is 5 months and I've had one since birth, I got the arm implant put in so I don't know if that's causing me to be irregular.

Extended breastfeeding with both. Period returned after 16 months with the first and 17 months with the second (joy joy joy)

Breastfed both of mine and period arrived 8 weeks after ds1 was born and 10 weeks after ds2. Gutted.

Also exclusively breastfeeding day and night and period arrived after 3.5 months. Very annoying.

Me too! Exclusively bf an enormous boy and periods restarted last week, when DS was 17 weeks. Sure it took a couple of months from finishing feeding for them to come back with DD...

Booooooooooooooo! Milk supply seemed to reduce too, just to add insult to injury...

You are all so lucky - mine returned like clockwork straight away - a couple of weeks of random post birth bleeding then back in to normal 28 day cycle - I was very anaemic (7.8) after loosing a lot of blood during delivery but made no difference. I also ebf for a year.

Returned at 6 months for me, I'm still breastfeeding. (Much heavier and more painful too.)

Thanks ladies, you've put my mind at rest a little, really expected them to have returned by now, was starting to panic that something was a bit wrong, but at least now i know not everyone's returns straight away (not that I'm wanting them back...just would be nice to know my body has recovered and is back to normal again) x
