Q on getting rid of nits

You know when they've got nits and you have to wet comb.I got one of those nitty gritty combs.But have I got the wrong end of the stick in thinking I only need to wet comb for 2 weeks and not use lotion?Or are you supposed to use a lotion as well as wet combing.Not keen on chemicals and am happy wet combing with just conditioner.So is this enough?

Chemicals didn't really touch dd's nits, she had them on and off for about a year and I tried EVERY chemical treatment out there. Eventually it meant washing her hair alternate days, wet combing thoroughly, using tea tree shampoo and conditioner and also combing through tea tree oil. I did this for about 3 weeks and finally got rid of them but this also coincided with her finishing playgroup so there was probably some kid reinfecting her every week!

There was a survey of available treatments recently that said wet combing was the most effective. It gets easier with practice . So there's no reason to coat your child in organophosphates if you don't like the idea.

Instead of using conditioner to wet comb use baby oil - it's fantastic - difficult to get out afterwards but it does smell nice

Thanks guys and for the tips.So it is a proper treatment what I'm doing?I just wasn't sure.When I told my mum I was just combing with conditioner until they had gone she said'oh that must be a new thing,I used to use a lotion'You see?That's great anyway.
