Pericarditis & Subphrenic Abscess

My GP thinks I may have had pericarditis caused by an abscess rupture. Has anyone any experience of these conditions and recovery? I am scared it might happen again. I've had some antibiotics and my heart rate has gone down (it was all fluttery and 128/min and is now about 70/min)

I'm left with pleuritic type chest pain and an achy back and have been prescribed Naproxen, an anti-inflammatory.

The abscess may have been caused during my past history of surgery (I had two major ops for bowel ischemia and peritonitis last year)

Many thanks

Pericarditis is inflammation of the sac around the heart. Might it happen again? Yes. Is it more likely now that you have had it once? No.

An inflammation caused by an abscess can happen anywhere.

It must have been a nasty scare for you, but it is over and will probably never happen again.

Crikey, lovely, you've had some terrible health problems recently. Have you been seen and thoroughly checked out by specialists?

I wish you well.

Thanks, yes just when I think it's over something else crops up! I think the problem was this time it was chest pain rather than tummy pain which i was looking out for more. Now at least I know these things can happen I guess.

Yes am under the care of a colorectal surgeon and next time I'll probably directly phone his secretary i think as the GP's didn't and just were saying 'chest infection', 'pleurisy' without linking it to my past history (this has happened before)

Sorry I should have mentioned they didn't get to drain it on time before it ruptured Sad i haven't got tummy pain just chest pain at the moment.

Am really worried as previously had similar with a pelvic abscess and went on to develop peritonitis..

It was 3 weeks ago now if that was going to happen it would have done by now?
