Inner Thigh Pain and It's Getting Worse. What can it be?

On Sunday I woke up with a weird pain in my inner thigh. No bruise or anything. Over the past two days the pain has spread right through my inner thigh and down to just below the knee.

It's mostly quite achey, but scream out loud painful when poked or bounced on (thank you to DS). Had another look this evening and there is still no bruising visible, however the skin seems redder/mottled compared to my other non painful leg.

Does anyone know what this could be?

Could it be a vascular problem, like a hidden varicose vein maybe?

Musicaltheatremum · 22/04/2014 22:12

Could it be early shingles? See what it is like in the morning and if any red lumpy bits go to GP.

Is it hot?

BeattieBow · 22/04/2014 22:19

Could it be cellulitis? I had something similar to this at Christmas - had a fever too, and felt quite fluey for a day or 2, and then my leg went red.

I later found an insect bite or something at my ankle bone, and it seems this can cause cellulitis.

(other than that a dvt maybe? Are you pregnant?).

it's probably not though.

Thanks for your quick replies.

It's not hot.
I don't know about varicose veins as I've never had those before.
It feels a bit like I have badly scraped the whole area. I sleep on my side and even that is painful.Sad
I have no chance of getting to my GP tomorrow as I'm working and it takes two bloody weeks to get an appointment. Do you think it would be worth bothering the nurse practioner with?

See the nurse, if it is an infection of some sort then it needs seeing sooner rather than later, and I think you need checking for DVT, just in case. I would think you'd pulled a muscle but the skin colour changes are strange.

Definitely see the nurse.
It sounds like the sort of thing that needs to be looked at, not diagnosed over the internet.

Thanks everyone. Will make the appointment tomorrow.
