Infection or stones

Last night (12am) went to bed and ended up with pain in my right side from rib to hip then a little pain in stomach and back was also sick quite a few times never slept a wink
Been to the hospital and they say it's either a infection or kidney stones

I feel better now song feel sick and the pain had eased now I'm running back and forward to loo

Is it just a infection or stones and have they passed and what else should I look out for

Also if it helps the other day when I woke up I really needed to pee which is not like me especially first thing in the morning also had to hold it the other day till I found a loo as was out

I've had both although thankfully not at the same time.

With the infection, I was very fluey and had a dull ache in my flanks. I also had a high temperature and general fighting off an infection symptoms.

With stones, it was excruciating, vice like pain on my flank that would come in waves. I was sick a lot but passed it quickly. The peeing a lot thing for me came after I passed it - the doctor said that it scratches up your insides and your body's reaction is to try and flush it all out.
