Is this menopause-related?

I'm almost 47 . Not sure how that happened. Anyway. During the course of a month I go from feeling absolutely fine to feeling awful. There is no longer a pattern to this. My symptoms at the moment:

Itchy skin, esp on torso
Headaches
Sometimes nausea
Heightened anxiety & irritability
Feeling hot
Not sleeping when experiencing the above.

To be honest, sometimes it feels like the "morning sickness" I had when pg, which was more of a general malaise that lasted from morning until early evening. Though I know for sure I'm not pregnant.

I do take the pill, so am not sure what my underlying cycle is. I'm also reluctant to come off it because my periods became so heavy after I had kids that I couldn't really leave the house without worrying about a bloodbath.

What does anyone reckon?

These symptoms sound like mine, before I was diagnosed with an overactive thyroid. I am also menopausal, but not suffering with it, apart from bouts of hot flushes and getting hot in bed. It might be worth a trip to the doctors for a blood test. Although my thyroid is controlled with tablets and most of the time I feel great, I can get a bit lethargic around the time of the month (my cycle is all over the place, not regular now I'm menopausal). I found the patientuk website helpful.
