Lump in Armpit

I have a pea sized hard lump in my armpit, not in the middle or into my breast, but under the skin that is on my arm. On the top of my armpit, if my arm is in the air.

I noticed it three days ago, and had my friend who is a doctor have a feel of it, in an informal setting. It's nothing sinister, but may need antibiotics to clear.

This morning it is a lot smaller. If it stayed the same, I was going to book a formal appointment with my GP. Would it be wrong to wait a few days to do this, see if it gets smaller? And not go if it disappears?

I'd be inclined to bathe it and give it a prod!

If you your doctor friend said it would clear with ABs it is probably a lymph node swelling, then? Some people get this when generally under the weather. Mine behind my ears often swell when I have a virus. I'd hate to diagnose anything on MN and I have no medical training, but I am not someone who says automatically take everything to a GP. I'd wait.

Yeah it's a lymph node thing. Gonna give it to next week I think and reassess the situation then.
