Anyone know much about knee problems? What could this be?

Over a year ago I tripped and fell straight onto my knee. It was bruised and swollen and the local minor injuries unit said nothing was broken, just to rest it. A few months later I went to the doctor as I was still having problems and was advised that it was probably bursitis and it may take a long time to feel better.

In the last couple of months things have been getting worse. The main problem is that if I sit down for more than say 30 minutes I start limping when I get up and it takes a while to walk normally again. As I have a desk job I end up limping a lot and feel very self conscious about this as colleagues often ask what's wrong. When bent the top of the knee feels really lumpy,a bit like a jelly worm is in there, and clicks when I bend it. Any ideas what this might be?

Synovial chondromatosis maybe? I have this and jar where bits of calcium form in the joint. Prob best to ask your GP to refer you for an x-ray.
