Any suggestions - eczema around the eye

I get patches of eczema underneath my eyes, which is particularly bad beneath the inner and outer corners. Have tried all the usual gentle suspects on it (am used to dealing with it elsewhere on the body) and the doctor did prescribe a mild hydrocortisone to try. This works and clears it up but am reluctant to use for long stretches. Also last week had a very painful split of the skin where I suspect it'd become weakened by the hydrocortisone.

The actual eczema is not particularly painful, to be honest its a cosmetic thing more than anything that I'd like to sort it - impossible to wear eye make up with and the redness makes it look like I've been sobbing.

Anyone got any ideas?!

I get this sometimes too after wearing make up. I must admit I use a tiny dab of hydrocortisone cream, but as little as possible.

Have you tried coconut oil? You can buy the good stuff in a jar from H&B and it's very good for moisturizing sensitive skin.

I use avene skin recovery cream for this, not aveeno, this is a french brand, I get from boots. A bit £££ but worth a try.

kazza Haven't tried coconut oil before, but various other solid oils/balms etc, some as basic and natural as they get and others not so. Tend to find they sit on the skin (especially where it has gone a bit scaly) and don't feel they improve things much. Is coconut oil better? Any particular one you recommend?

Forgettable I'll look into it certainly! Have heard a lot of good things about Avene. If it works not really fussed if it is a bit pricey, am just sick of having it on my face.

Thank you both for your help, hopefully this is scaly eyes being banished!

coconut oil is a bit greasy but helps moisturize. any you can get from Holland and Barrett will be fine.
