this is driving me mad on and off and really sore. but it seems to be all along the bottom jaw, not sure if it's tooth related as it seems to be all along the jaw and have had abscesses before and it doesn't seem to be one tooth. comes and goes too days with no pain then an hour of it being really awful. when i have had tooth pain before it's not gone away like this has. what can it be? have dentist next week but does it sound like something else?

any advice? it's not hurting at all at the moment, if it were something tooth related wouldn't it hurt all the time?

Might be sinus issues

Hi Liberty.

Have you googled trigeminal neuralgia and checked if it seems familiar.

I've got it and went to the dentists with pain. I ended up having a tooth out that probably didn't need doing, then returned again and again with more pain. No dry socket. Clear x rays.

Someone had suggested considering TN as a cause and it sounded about right. In the end I went to the GP and they agreed with me.

Do painkillers (ibuprofen/paracetamol) help at all? If they do then it isn't TN.

My pain came and went, would make me writhe in pain it was that bad. Some nights it woke me every hour. It would feel like it was in different teeth, sometimes in my ear, sometimes in my jaw.

am going to dentist on tuesday so hopefully they will shed light on it. it's such a weird pain though from right at my temples across top and bottom jaw, it travels about.

i have taken ibuprofen with codeine and this does seem to help so it doesn't sound like tn if that would alleviate the pain?

today and yesterday it was fine, then this evening it started again mildly.

That sounds promisingly unlike TN!

Good luck at the dentists, hope they can help you.
