Disc pain. What can I take when pregnant?

I've had disc problems in my lower back for a few years. It flares up every now and then and I usually take diclofenac and cocodamol which helps the inflammation go down and breaks the pain/spasm cycle.

Tonight it has flared up big time and it's not just painful twinges when I move the wrong way, it's a dull ache constantly. Last time it was like this I was prescribed diclofenac and tramadol. I'm going to go ahead and assume that I can't take either of those things!

Can I take cocodamol? I know I can take paracetamol but it's not going to touch it. Past experience tells me that. Are there any anti inflammatories I can take? It's usually those that help best.

Hi, sorry to hear about your pain. Please come and join us on the back pain support group up thread. Some of the ladies there have been pregnant whilst suffering. In the meantime do get to your gp.cocodamol can be taken but you must get medical advice.

No pharmaceutical options are heat patches or hotty. Massage also helps me.

Hope you feel better soon.

Nope, just paracetamol. However your dr can prescribe stronger painkillers (like cocodamal) at the correct strength not to harm baby and can give advice/physio referral so it doesn't get worse during pregnancy.

In a nutshell speak to your dr.
