Had one today, sonographer was dismissive and not very reassuring but did say report would take ages x

Mine took 6 weeks to come back and was normal. I would think if there was any abnormalities you would know results sooner. Check with your gp.

Hi Miranda
She seemed quiet and them said half way through "do you do any regular exercise?" Then at the end very quickly said I can't give you any results. So panicked a bit. X

Any sonographer a or people with experience do results? X

My mum had one recently and the person doing it warmed her she was not allowed to say anything as a doc needed to see it first. It was fine.

mandmsmummy · 10/04/2014 19:46

Thanks, I guessed that silence is generally a good thing. Just wondered if they saw anything alarming whether they would tell u or call the doctor and make you wait?
I have a lot of health issues at the mo so panic easily. Funnily enough I wasn't worried about this one as there's no reason to be worried but have come away thinking something is wrong. X

How soon has anyone had results?
How soon do the docs look at them?
I have to return my 24hr machine tomorrow, wondering about asking then? X

Your results won't be in tomorrow unfortunately - it's usually around 2 weeks but can be anything to 6 in my experience.

The person isn't allowed to comment on anything really, because they're usually not trained to read them to the extent to give a diagnosis or all clear, or they get a specialist to review it.

I would try and keep calm, give them a ring in a couple of weeks if you haven't heard anything.

Hope everything is okay

mandmsmummy · 10/04/2014 21:12

Really? But if the sonographer saw something worrying (surely she must be aware of nasties) then she would get it looked at sooner? X

I'm sure as she was looking and interpreted the results as 'bad' she would report and refer much more quickly

I'm only talking about echocardiagrams in places I've worked personally by the way. The sonographers who did bladders, kidneys etc reported their own findings whereas the ones who did hearts had to refer to consultants.

mandmsmummy · 10/04/2014 21:26

Thanks nursey, I've had scans on other parts and have always been told all ok but as you say heart ones say nothing.
Trying to get comfy in bed with the 24hr monitor at the mo! X

oh dear, good luck and hope you get good results soon x

Moln · 10/04/2014 21:44

I have one each time I'm in for an appointment, I get the results the same day - I have all the tests first the wait to see the doctor, usually about an hour or so.

mandmsmummy · 10/04/2014 21:47

That's good service Moln!
I was told the report would take ages, I'm guessing that's a good thing x

It's obviously all about the time it takes for the dr to actually look at them. The clinc I attend is set up so all checks are completed and interpreted by the time you see the consultant.

mandmsmummy · 11/04/2014 08:53

That's good, I don't know what the set up was at my hospital. It's a huge hospital so cardiologists are on site. They didn't commit to anything just the report takes ages! X

Returned my 24 hr monitor and spoke to a nice person who explained they have routine questions during a scan and if they had seen what they call red flag findings they would have kept me there to see a cardiologist.
Just had a palpatation and thought oh god but need to get a grip!! X
