I suffered from dreadful migraines, the medication got stronger and stronger. It would last for up to 3 days. It was only when I stopped taking the contraceptive pill Dianette, (since then it has been banned here in France due to being related to deaths) and I haven't had one since.

Off to the doctors.

You can sonetimes stop it if you catch it early. You dissolve 3 x aspirin tablets (ie 900mg of aspirin) pref in flat coke or other drink with caffeine. And drink.

It sometimes works for me if I catch it early.

Next stage is to take Sumatriptan or Rizatriptan with some sort of anti sickness medication. These are prescription only and they are stupidly stingy with them so I'm forever back and forth asking for another box.

Which anti sickness and triptram drug will work best for you is trial and error sadly.

If its gone further before I get to my medication, I will take the sumatriptan antisickness and ibuprofen with codiene.
Don't take paracetamol. It doesn't work for migraine.

Ibuprofen or aspirin are far more effective.

Most GPs and specialists say you shouldn't take codiene based drugs for migraine but I find the pain so intense and agonising that regular painkillers don't cut it at all.

Essentially unless you deal with both the pain and the vomiting your migraine will hang around agonisingly long. The more it hurts, the sicker you feel, the more you vomit and the more you vomit, the more it hurt. Ouch.

No magic cure as such but you will find something which works for you.

As well as medication you could try Acupunture or reflexology. Sleep & lying in a quiet room is the only thing I can do once it's started. I only get them if I'm very stressed or haven't slept well for a while.

I take propanolol now every day prophylactically for migraines. I was getting more and more cluster headaches before I started taking it. It's made a huge difference and I'm not on a hefty dose.
