As it's the one test I thought I was having & I can't see it on my test results

CCP is now used in stead of rheumatoid factor. Or is a new name for it, not sure.

KatyMac · 08/04/2014 17:34

I understood they start with Rheumatoid Factor then check anti-CCP if RH is high

But (maybe) in Sweden they don't really do the RH without the anti-CCP as it's a more significant test.

My brother has (had?) a very high anti-CCP (one of the highest in Europe) but his RH is unremarkable

No, they are different. RF is less specific than Anti-CCP. It/Anti-CCP often gets used only where somebody has symptoms of RA but a Neg RF - a small proportion of people with RA have no RF. But RA can also be present in other inflammatory diseases, but Anti-CCP appears only in inflammatory arthritis. I think that's it anyway. The letters would show up on results as the words begin with same letters, IYSWIM! Anti-Cyclic Something Antibody????

Katy - I suspect a GI could test for that as easily as a Rheum. I don't know why it's not used much - cost maybe?

Just googled - Anti-Cyclic Citrullinated Peptide Antibody

BasketzatDawn · 08/04/2014 17:37

Sorry - Typo alert. I meant RF can be present in other inflammatory conditions.

KatyMac · 08/04/2014 17:43

No - they definately didn't do that one

I guess I have to go back & ask for one Sad
