clear urine , thirsty very worried .....

noticed iv become very thirsty , peeing a lot more and my urine very pale in colour , or no colour , bloated tummy by end of day , iv had lots of blood test done all ok , but didn't do diabetic one i don't think ....
googled and now getting worried ...

any help ...

Go to see your GP, get tested. Request they refer you for the fasting test too.

You have to not eat for 8 -12 hours before being tested. The first test is usually a urine test. This is the NHS website.

just looked thanks , my dad has type 2 diabetes late in life but apparently could be genetic ...(not sure )

Diabetes is manageable and controllable when it is diagnosed. Go and check with your Dr. The Diabetes U.K. website has good information about symptoms and treatment.

Did you have the blood test because of your current symptoms? If so, I would be astonished if they didn't check for diabetes. It would be the blood glucose measurement. If you want a quick answer, you could try asking in a chemist as many pharmacies will check your random blood glucose. It's not really diagnostic but it might give you some idea if there's a big problem there.

i had whole host of blood tests done 10 in total as i suffer with health anx ..and have been through a bad time personally and this sets me off ,i had bad bout of IBS recently iv lost a little bit of weight, and went into worry mode , i never noticed my recent symptoms till the weekend as they seemed to increase , i went to the loo a lot more , great thirst , noticeably so ..but thinking iv been driving lots more for some time now
i felt reassured as bloods came back normal , but they didn't do a fasting one , not sure why , so i will go back but it is so hard to get an appointment they all go on the day and you can't book in advance well if lucky 2 weeks in advance ....

Diabetic here. Agree with poster who said, Chemist will do you a provisional test, until you can get to GP.

thank you , so i just go and they do a pin prick test ? should i eat drink first ? we have a lloyds pharmacy close by they may do it ..

If you go for one after fasting overnight and before breakfast, that will give you the most useful result. Diabetic range for fasting blood sugar is over 7 mmol, with varying degrees of potential problems from 5 mmol upwards. The pharmacist will know it all and be able to give you advice. If you have symptomatic diabetes your fasting blood is likely to be pretty clear cut high.

ok thanks , will maybe give them a call tomz and see if i can get an idea , my dad has type 2 started just managed with diet in his 50s , now 74 inulin dependent and managing it bad ,
has been advised that could be passed on to siblings , but so far and in past iv not been effected ...had last fasting test october last year ..
but not sure if can just come on ....

I would not put this off. You need to get a blood glucose test done, and sometimes it doesn't need to be fasted - if it's off the scale they will tell you.

Type 1 can come on very fast. I have a family member diagnosed with Type 1 recently - drinking lots, weeing lots. Immediate test by GP, there and then, levels over 30. Straight to hospital. Fit and healthy, no other symptoms.

If the blood sugars remain high, over 15, then you will suffer organ damage. See if the pharmacy can do a test - it's quick, won't be 100% if not fasted, but it's a spot check. If you are diabetic it will be high. Normal range is 4-8 and that's the target for a diabetic - stay in that range and you'll be OK.

agree that you can just get a test at your local pharmacy. I had to do this recently as I developed type 2 diabetes due to taking steroids and my GP surgery only wanted to check me after 3 months but my surgeon needed an idea of how bad things were so got a quick test done.

Have you any other symptoms? I started to drink lots of lemonade - at least 2 litres a day for maybe a couple of weeks then suddenly was up all night drinking and weeing!! My eyesight started to go blurry and I had very itchy genitals (maybe TMI!!) so classic symptoms. Oh and weight loss is a good indicator.

ok great now I'm terrified ....

no luck today with getting any appointment with any doctor by time got through all had gone ...
not easy also with children off school juggling them and work to do anything .
i called lloyds pharmacy going to get there tomorrow somehow have to drag kids with me , and they will do a test ...

feeling worried , thirsty constantly , weeing less i think , as i said before i have lost a little weight ...hair thinning to ...
I'm trying to drink loads not sure if thats good or not ??
what els can i do in the mean time ?
any nice words of help ....

ok went to lloyds had check . 4.8 reading so no risk they said ..

still baffling the thirst thing continues .....

its health anxiety and you'll have something else to attribute these symptoms to next week.

I say the above with kindness - HA is real and it sucks and your best bet is to tell your GP that this is the real issue

What are you drinking? DD2 developed diabetes symptoms and was sent to hospital with borderline BM. They concluded (after tests) that she had 'squash syndrome'which is a phenomenon caused by consuming nice flavoured drinks that actually don't quench thirst too well.

The weather warms up, you drink more sugary drinks, then they actually make you feel more thirsty while at the same time irritating and stimulating your bladder, causing you to pee loads, so you feel more thirsty, so you drink more... and the cycle continues.

The doctor suggested no more than 3 drinks of flavoured fluids per day, then water. DD2 hated water at that time and we thought she'd find it too confusing, so we just completely stopped everything and gave water only. The symptoms stopped almost immediately.
