Saw Rhemy today and has prescribed this ( once a blood profile done)

Already take Plaquinel and Etodolac and wondered how anyone has got on with it?

I take azathioprine for my crohns. At small doses I didn't notice any side effects. It works really well for my crohns symptoms but I find i get extreme fatigue when taking this medication. The tiredness is helped slightly by keeping well hydrated.

I had Aza last year and was one of the rare bods who reacts badly to it. Had a ghastly summer on it and a subsequent drug. Now doing okay on a 3rd drug. I ditto the need to drink lots of water - it seems to help the fatigue but also the nausea and headache I get with the one I am on. Good luck!!

I have Crohns and have been on it since December 1996. Together with Infliximab it gives me a virtually normal, stable life. I'm on 100mg a day (2 tablets) and it takes about a month for it to get in / out of my system. I have no side effects that I can attribute to Azathioprine. I'm often tired but that is the Crohns package together with a full time job, social life and a kid doing AS levels!

I too have Crohns and took axathioprine for a while. I'm afraid I had some awful side effects with it and eventually had to stop taking it. I couldn't even go to work as the drugs were making me sicker than the disease.

Best of luck with it though. Good to see my story isn't the norm.

Sorry friends came round and I forgot I had started this.

It's been prescribed for Lupus, and god I hope it dosnt make the fatigue any worse!

Joint pain is so bad that it's either this or back on steroids which I so don't want. I put on so much wright when I was on them before, and have managed to lose over 7 stone last year. :(
