Burst blood vessels from vomiting?

Feel human again today but after a rather violent bout of D&V yesterday I have been left with a rather battered looking face and neck.

After the first vom I immediately came up in purple blotches around my eyes cheek and neck. After a bit of a panic and deciding it wasn't meningitis (they didn't disappear with pressure) I guessed it must be burst capillaries.

Has anyone else had this and if so how long did it last for? The sports are more red today than purple but I do look like I've got a black eye

Not me but ds2. He gets what we call the 'rage rash' when he has a tantrum, as he shouts so hard he bursts blood vessels on his face.
Also if he strains to do a poo, or is sick.

My ds1 was once blue lighted to A&E with suspected meningitis, owing to the rash, after vomitting when he had a high temperature.
Same thing.

I get this whenever I'm sick. The bruising can last two or three days depending on how badly I've vomited. It's really awful as it can't be hidden by make-up either. I get affected around my eyes and along my jaw as well. It looks as though I'm wearing black eyeshadow or I've been beaten up.

Thanks for the reassurance. I'm glad it's not serious, I've never had this happen before but I'm 21wks pregnant so maybe it's all that extra blood volume at the moment

You're right about make up, it won't be covered up (not by my cheapy stuff anyway).

For the time being I'll try not to get the rage

Glad it's faded, I once vommed so hard I burst a blood vessel in my eye which filled up with blood and didn't fade for nearly 3 months
It has taken about 10 years for me to eat Chinese again!!

I did my eyelid blood vessels when throwing up after a particularly heavy drinking session

It's grim isn't it, my eyes usually go but never before my face!

It was after a delicious Waitrose meal for £10 curry. I loved it but don't think I could face it again . It wasn't the meal by the way, I just once every few years get a terrible reaction to greasy food, it's usually fish and chips which again I love.

My entire left eye will fill with blood (!!) but tit fades over 48hr. The spots sooner - 24hr.
