my dh came off his motorbike last night & broke his collarbone & (he thinks a couple of ribs). my question is we are due to go away on holiday in 10 days time, do you think he will be ok or shall i cancel ?? he is in agony today but wondered how long it was likely to last for as the hospital didnt seem able to tell him.

Are you flying on holiday? If so I think he may find the flight very uncomfortable, it's very close quarters and he's likely to get jostled quite a bit. I haven't broken a collarbone myself, but a friend whe did said the most agonising thing is getting bumped on the elbow or arm so that the shoulder goes upwards or inwards, and that's exactly the kind of bump he's going to get on a plane from turbulance or other passangers.

lyla, my brother broke his collarbone when he was a child. He had his arm in a sling for 4 weeks, possibly longer - I think it caused him pain for the first 2 or 3 weeks and then he was ok.

If you do decide to cancel, I'm sure you would get a refund on medical grounds

Cancel IMHO
I've done collarbone and ribs (horse fall) and was strapped and in a sling for 4 weeks
The ribs were agony when breathing.
Where are you going is it driving? not very far, where he can rest a lot?
Flying no no no.
The extra security things atm would be so uch waiting, he would be unable to help you with the kids.
