DH is ill- is it safe to go home?

My dh has a viral infection and our dd is only 6 weeks old. When he got it I was staying with my mum for a few days and extended my trip on his doctor's advice. He felt so bad that he went to A & E and was told it was a viral infection and then went to his GP who did blood tests (results not back yet). The advice was that when he felt better he would no longer be contagious. He first got the symptoms of dizziness and feeling sick last Monday and now just feels totally drained and knackered- do you think it's safe for us to go home now? I've booked a train for Monday and am dying to get home and see him but if he's not fully better should we stay away for longer? Obviously I don't want either of us to catch it!
TIA

Hayls, if you can stay away it's a lovely luxury to have and I'd take advantage of it if I were you. I did a similar thing over half term when dp was ill and I was staying with friends with the children anyway (booked before he was ill) - we just delayed coming back for a day or 2 and dd (who was about 10 weeks) didn't get the nasty throat infection.

My DH got sick the night before he was supposed to bring us home from hospital when DS was 2 weeks old. It was a diahorrea and vomiting thing and the doctor just said no contact, so he slept in a different room etc and no kisses and cuddles for the Saturday/Sunday and he went away for a week for work the following week, during which he got better and neither of us suffered any affects. Having said that, given that you are at your mums and have probably got into a routine there and have some help - I would stay longer till he feels back to normal.
