What is up with DH?

DH is mid thirties, average height and weight, non smoker and runs 3 times a week, and is generally in good health.
However from Sept last year he has developed sores on the corners of his mouth, similar to cold sores though he suffers from those as well and says these sores are different. They have been there constantly since Sept. He's tried using topical treatments like Blistez but it just keeps them from getting worse, and doesn't get rid of the sores completely.
For the last few days he also has been experiencing dizzy spells, he's likened it to being drunk!
He's been to his own dr who tested him for vitimin B and iron deficiency but all results were normal. He did start taking a multi vitamin anyway but it hasn't really made any difference.
The dizzy spells are a more recent development so he hasn't discussed these with his dr.
Any ideas?

Never accept the bald statement that a test result is 'normal'. For too many doctors, that just means it's within range. His B12 needs to be above 500 to be acceptable - ferritin above about 70.

If he is low in either of those, a multivitamin won't cut it.

Can I suggest he gets a copy of his test results from the doc - it's his date so he's entitled to them - and we'll go from there.

Thanks for the reply Rockin, typical male said he'll wait to see how he goes for another week to see before he makes an appt with the GP!
I'll suggest he gets a copy of the results and report back!

Is it angular chelitis?

If so an anti fungal cream helps clear it up

Does sound a bit like anaemia/iron deficiency/ depressed immune system.

Is he stressed ? any exposure to carbon monoxide ?

AchyFox · 07/03/2014 15:27

Deffo get a full blood count if redoing the blood tests.

Would be interested to see what his WBC is.

I get eczema in the corners of my mouth which can get infected. Steroid ointments clear that up for me.

Thanks for a the replies!
No exposure to carbon monoxide that I know of but must ask him about his workplace.
He was given an anti fungal cream for it at one stage, Daktarin or something that sounds like that, from memory! But no results with that either.
Looks like getting a copy of his blood test results is the way to go.
Thanks again.
