Just wanted to know wether anyone has changed consultants and if it was easy or made for more problems?
I'm currently being treat for psoriatic arthritis and just feel like my consultant just sees me, ticks me off his list and moves on. I've been put on methotrexate with what I feel is no support and he has no specialist nurse (other consultants do) so when I have problems I have to go to my gp so I've been referred to two other conpletely separate consultants on top of my rheumatologist with what I feel is all linked to my arthritis.
I'm starting to feel angry that I'm being fobbed off so I've rang this morning and left a msg for another consultants secretary to call me back as I'm not sure how you go about doing these things?

I changed my ds consultant as he was of no help at all. I went back to our doctors and firmly but politely told him we wanted to see someone else. We had to go to another hospital , but that might have been because we needed to see a paediatric neurologist.
It was the right decision, new consultant has been wonderful.
My dad has psoriatic arthritis, so I can appreciate how you are feeling.

My consultants secretary has rang me back straight away and she's said it will be no problem. There's a team in the same hospital that deal specifically with pa so not sure I wasn't there first to be honest.
I feel much happier now, feel quite emotional that I've decided enough is enough. I've been feeling really down recently and today I feel nearly my old self cos I've decided it's my body not theirs. I'll decide what treatment and care is best for me.
To be fair I gave them no choice I just said I want to change to this certain team and that's that. Like you said I wasn't rude, just said I thought they could give me the best care given the problems I'm having.
