Shingles advice/how to get rid of the itch

Friend has got shingles on face,no where else. Apart from bi carb what else can she use to get rid of it quickly as it is driving her mad, on day 3 now.

Doc has said it is shingles, she is on anti viral aciclovir tablets, one five times a day.

Anything else she should be doing.

DD and DS recently had chicken poc and we used to spray their faces with Magicool - instant relief. We googled "chicken pox" and found it in the recommendations along with piriton syrup, oat baths etc.
