friend's ds has got bone tumour nd they missed a shattered collar bone for 2 1/2 months !!!!

friend been at hospitall all day . he fell and hurt his shoulder , had x-ray but they said it was too swollen to see if broke. she took him back and forward for last 2 and a half months . the docs kept referring him to hosp and hosp back to docs.

finally he has had 7 x-rays done /cat scan and loads of blood tests and has now got to wait for an emergency appointment at oxford to have a biospsy and operation. they have diagnosed a bone tumour and his collar bone is shattered .

im really worried he is only 16

how worrying for your friend.That's appalling that he's been suffering for 2.5 months .I haven't got any exp of this but somebody else might have some encouraging words.
Hope he gets the best treatment now and recovers soon.

What a worrying time for your friend and family. I can't offer any advice apart from maybe offering to help friend when she has hospital appointments - if she has other children who need to be looked after?

Another mumsnetter's son had a friend who was/ís being treated for bone cancer maybe she will see this. (It was Mears I think)

thanks im really worried that he has been left for so long . it started with a lump on his back . then it moved to his chest where it grew to the size of a golf ball . its all purple and red and it looks horrible . the stupid docs said that they didint know what it could be and kept sending him to the hosp who then told him to get pain killers from docs and it continued

im so worried now though and just want the appointment to come through soon

fiends ds went to oxford today to see a specialist. he has an infecion in his collar bone and its caused an abcess. it popped last night . they are going to drain it and remove the collar bone . they did say too that if northampton general had spotted it earlier it may not of led to an infection . they have cocked up big time they still havent ruled out that there is a tumour either and he has to go back in to oxford on wednesday and stay for 3-4 days . it is constantly leaking fluid and he is really scared . collar bone is totally infected and is shattered beyond repair.

how could they of missed such a badly boken bone like that and left the lump on his chest so long??
