don't know much about it - but really want to help him - he has gripey stomach all day every day. thinks tea and coffee makes it worse so he has pretty much cut out these. Still not gone away though - does it ever completely go away or can you simply minimise it?

There are quite few websites on this if you google it. A friend has it at work and had cut out dairy altogether. I think it's more about controlling it than curing it.

Don't know if it completely goes away. dh suffered really badly with IBS for years through stress at work. He found taking Aloe Vera eased it a little but it was only when he changed jobs that it practically disappeared. He still has the odd twinge though. Sorry, not very helpful....

I take aloe vera every juice every day. It has made a big difference, and cutting out stress has really helped as well.

There was a thing on radio 5 live today saying that having a probiotic drink every day can help if you have IBS.

I avoid stress, do lots of gentle exercise

i really avoid artificial sweetners - they make me awful ill

as does fat

Garlic helps (I'm still deciding about onions - raw was def bad - but cooked seem OK)

The less chemicals I have (in food) the less I suffer
