A good friend of mine has recently been diagnosed with PCOS and is looking for advice, particularly on diet. I said if anyone could help it would be the lovely and knowledgable mumsnetters!
Any advice at all would be much appreciated

Hello,

I too have pcos and I've read recently that best diet to follow is the GI diet (there was a good article in the Sunday Times about it yesterday).

Hope that helps

hi.. I have PCOS and there are several books on the subject including diet books. There is an article in last week's NOW magazine on PCOS which I found quite useful.

I have pcos .I have two children ,one conceived with clomid, then I had ten years of infertility and finally conceived ds naturally at the age of 40!
I would recommend your friend to follow a low gi diet and to exercise as much as possible.
There is much more treatment now for pcos than there was for me ,so I'm sure she'll conceive soon with help.Best wishes to her.

I found Collette Harris' books very helpful. As others have said the best type of diet is GI to keep blood sugar levels stable and keep inslin low. There are also various herbal supplements that can make quite a difference to the symptoms, but it's best to seek advice before taking lots of things.

Thanks for the help. I'll pass all the info on to her
