Herbal remedies for hormone problems

I have some very stroppy hormones, and due to high bp my gp cannot offer the usual treatment of sticking me on the pill.
He suggested I try herbal remedies to calm my hormones, and gave me some migraine tablets to deal with those, which I get every month.
I have very irregular periods, water retention, very bad skin before each period, monthly migraines and some very interesting mood swings. (my poor husband)

I'm already taking starflower oil and vitamin E, which has only really helped with my skin.
Someone has suggestes Agnes Castus.
Has anyone ever taken this? Could you tell me how well it works?
I'd also appreciate any other suggestions or links to information about herbal remedies.
Thanks XX

I get the same as you (incl the monthly migraines which are a total pain - I don't know which migraine medicine you are trying - I tried one and although it made it go away initially, it just came back the next day! I find that the migraine hangs around till my period clears up!)

I am trying the pill again (doesn't normally agree with me - I'm tricycling it so I don't get a period) and although I feel a bit weird on it, I haven't had a migraine.

The agnus castus didn't work for me but I think you are supposed to take it for months before if works - also, someone told me you need to get the linctus and I had tried the tablets. One thing that definitely helped was fish oils but I'm not sure if you can take that together with starflower.

I'd be interested in knowing how you get on because I'm not sure how long I'll be able to stay on the pill!

Am pg at the moment, but usually suffer massive mood swings & bloating. I took the Wellwoman capsules, and they made a huge difference (possibly the vitamin b6 which apparently is a big thing in PMT). 3 for 2 at boots most of the time, they'd made a difference by a month. Also read an article on this in recent mag, if I find it again I'll post as it suggested alternative remedies for different pmt symptoms & also mentioned progesterone patches which I hadn't heard of before (would they be a problem with high bp?). There might be more information on a pmt website & sure there are several books on the subject.
