My DD has had tummy troubles since she was 3 months old and she's not much better now.
She gets a really bloated belly with loads of tummy pain around her belly button and lower down ,her chest and lower back. High temps with no obvious cause. She's not milk intolerant and has tested negative twice for gluten. She has also done us some really foul smelling poo ranging from a lovelly green colour (no idea what causes that)to very pale and normal agian. Drs up to now have not been alot of help but they did do a white cell scan ,but that didn't show anything up.
Has any one got any ideas?
Thanx

How old is she now?

MatNanPlus · 07/08/2006 21:43

duh, sorry just caught your title

Has she had any dye studies done?

Has she a peadiatrician?

Shes 3 and she is seeing peadiatricians at our local hospital but it has been a real struggle to get them to believe us. she's had an ultrasound scan which showed nothing up and the white cell scan which should show any inflamation up. This was clear as well.

she sounds like my 4yr old boy....he has just been daignosed with bowel dismobilty disorder, and has the same symptoms as your DD.

He was born with problems too, but was diagnosed at 2mths with severe gastro oesophical reflux disease and then with severe milk intolerance and ended up being weaned from me onto prejomin hypo allergenic formula and gaviscon and ritodene meds.....so a little different already as so far you say you DD doesn't have these things....

I have been fighting tho to find out the reason for the nloating and other probs....and recently got referred to Dr Beatie in southampton General and it was there that he had some tummy xrays, showing up probs.

We don't know as yet tho the root cause....some don't get to know until they do a test involving a camera down. I am thinking that will be our next test!!!

Please keep pushing for help/diagnosis. Just because it isn't found yet, doesn't mean there isn't a problme.....just that they don't know which test to find it as yet.

Good luck....wish I could be of more help, but you aren't alone.

It could be a wheat allergy rather than coeliac disease. The symptoms you describe are much like what my son was going through. He was diagnosed with a wheat allergy and since avoiding wheat rather than gluten, he has been much better.

thanks for your support

I don't think it is dietary. No particular food kicks her off.
She can be really well for weeks, then really ill for weeks for no apparent reason. She gains weight while well, but loses it when ill even though she eats just as well (or bad as the case may be) She is 3 1/2 years old and weighs a whopping 31 pounds. She has starting recently with a really little cough. When she does cough you can hear her being sick in her throat.
Doctors are planning to admit her next time she is ill, but she is very well at the moment. It could be weeks before she is ill again.
