Teeth grinding at night causing painful wounds

I have a wisdom tooth that's cutting into my gum at night. It's really painful and the wound can't heal because it happens every single night. I take amtriptyline for my fibromyalgia that knocks me out completely so I have no control over the grinding. I'm thinking of having the tooth extracted but I don't have the money right now.

Are there any temporary solutions until I can afford to get the tooth out?

You can get bite guard things from the dentist.

or you can get one made at the dentist. Get it specially fitted to go over the bottom half of your mouth and it doesn't come out.

they aren't cheap though if you pay for dental treatment.

I am a fellow grinder! I bought my first guard from the dentist, but now I buy DIY ones from Amazon - just check the reviews before purchase. I have tried a few over the years, they are never the same quality as the ones from the dentist, but they are a cheaper option.

Cool, thanks! I might see if I can eBay one.
