Lump behind nipple

Last year whilst pregnant I found a smaller than pea sized lump behind my nipple.
Gap said it was a blocked duct and not to worry.
One year later it's still there and is now more long rather than round.

I googled, why oh why oh why did I do that?

I'm booking app to see GP this coming week but I am extremely anxious and extremely tearful.

Please advise/hand hold?

I'm healthy and under 30 if that makes a blind bit of difference which I expect not

You will be fine, so please to hear you are going to see your GP. It is most likely to be a cyst.

Stay away from google - it is not your friend.

Let us know what happens - am sure it will be a good outcome.

If it is something to worry about, the sooner it's seen, the better. A lot of lumps aren't anything to worry about. I had one checked in the autumn, which turned out to be fine. It sounds quite possible that yours is the same as before, just more blocked, but of course, none of us can know, only medical professionals can tell you what's wrong. We can only mentally hold your hand till next week.

I didn't think I was worrying too much about my lump, but the GP took my blood pressure while I was there, as I hadn't had it taken for a few years. I wasn't far off needing hospitalisation, so I clearly was very worried, even if I hadn't admitted it to myself. (My BP is now pretty much back down to normal levels - outside of work, anyway...)

But please try not to google again before you've seen your GP and have more idea what's going on. Whatever it turns out to be, scaring yourself isn't going to help you.

Bloody Google- seriously the enemy!
Thank you for speedy replies.
I'm going Monday morning if they will see me!
It's just stomach wrenchingly awful.

DH isn't being that helpful and because of flooding I need my mother to drive me and my DS to the doctors.
Awful, I just want hide!

Hi MrsPaddington Shall we hand hold? I found a lump yesterday. Its quite sore, having sharp pain. Saw out of hours GP who has said see reg gp and given me anti biotic to see if an infected cyst. My sister had a pre cancerous lump, grandmother had double mastectomy. I did briefly venture onto google Shock not my friend
Lets keep EVEYTHING crossed its nothing! I am seeing GP on Monday too. Drinking a glass of Wine Herbal tea, as on anti biotics. Smile

I need to organise transport to doctors today and I don't want to! I don't want to talk to anyone!

Just hope I can be seen first thing tomorrow.
I imagine I get referred for a mammogram?
The thoughts running through my head are horrific.

How are you feeling endo?

Mrs P, ducts are 'long rather than round' so if there was a blockage, it might just have squished down and softened into the duct - iyswim. Does sort of make sense, at least to me Smile

I think your odds of it being nothing nasty are very very good. At least 9/10 lumps are found to be nothing nasty, and of the 10% that are nearly all of those are treatable too.

All of which wisdom I gained from the Ladies Who Know on the Tamoxigang thread - they are great at hand holding and normalising things for us anxious ones while we wait, so if you fancy it do pop in there Smile

Meantime, another hand to hold from one who has had many lumps checked out - with no bad news to date x

Similar to you MrsP! Sad I feel weak with worry. DH is at work and DD is full of beans. All i want to do is sleep! I would ask for mammogram if its not offered. I did a bit of reserch and read that mammogram is good for women over 40 but in younger woman an ultrasound is better. I am 40 this year, but may ask GP if she thinks ultrasound is better?
Have you had another other symptoms?
Thinking back, i have had horrendous night sweats for about 7 months, i did think i was in early menopause. Also, my last 2 periods have been different. Hopefully just concidence. Bring on tomorrow when we can get the ball rolling with getting to the bottom of this.

Elibean that's exactly how it feels not round lumpy just long and hardish.

Ultrasound, that's interesting to know. I'm hoping I'm taken seriously and the doctor wishes to take it further.
It's so frightening.

Not had any other symptoms, if anything my periods are more regular now than they have ever been.

Bring on tomorrow morning!

The GP assured me it's ok.
If it changes then to go back.
She didn't lift the skin and poke about like I did.

It's common for 'younger' women to have lumpy breasts apparently.

How about you endo?

Thats fantastic news! Are you reasurred and happy with what she said?

I have been referred to the breast clinic, should get an appoinment within two weeks. Slighty anxious. The GP seemed worried, although he tried to hide it i did pick up on it Sad. Now i just have to keep a check on my anxiety levels till the apointment.
