Can a doctor forward date a fit note?

I am on sick after an op with a 6 week recovery. I got a two week fit note from the hospital which runs out on Tuesday. If I go to the docs today would he do me a new fit note that starts from Wednesday or would I have to try and get back in for then?

My dr did a forward dated one.

We issue them electronically now and you can't forward date it but it could be dated from today and just overlap. As long as there are no gaps it doesn't matter.
