When would this bother you enough to do something?

Period two days late, feel a bit hot (not to feel) under a lot of stress, slight period like pain, - dm suggests peri menopause? Am forty? What exactly is this?

I'd put it down to stress - but 2 days late would be quite common for me.

I have gone into early menopause at 30, my periods actually went shorter at first (22 days) and heavier too, with the hot flushes I was literally poring with sweat, I was treated with Prostap (chemical menopause for endo) in the past and the hot flushes were full on I would be dripping and all my hair wet.

Keep an eye on things next few months and if anything else happens you could ways ask your GP for a blood test to put your mind at ease
