I have psoriatic arthritis which normally I can cope with, however in the last few years my sister and myself have been caring for elderly mum, visiting several times a day, getting her up, meals, cleaning, bed etc. and for the last 4 weeks she has been in hospital and we have been visiting every day.

I am just so exhausted and weary now, I am 64, am self employed and I can't find the energy to work. I feel short of breath. Wake up in the night and then am so tired when I get up I don't feel as if I have been asleep at all.

Through weight management I lost over 2 stone last year and in the last couple of months I have put nearly a stone back on, [emotional eating]

I don't know whether to go to doctors, take vitamins or what, any advice would be appreciated

You should go to your GP and tell her or him what you've told us. It's most likely that you're tired through all the physical work and mental stress, but it's worth checking for possible physical causes.

Is there no chance of getting some support with the workload of your mum?

My sister and I have decided we can't care for mum on our own anymore so want her to be assessed by social services before she is discharged.

I think I will have see GP as I can't carry on feeling this exhausted.
