26-30 days in length after years and years of regular 28 days.

Is this indicative of peri menopause or something?

Don't know the answer but I am experiencing similar at 41. Periods now 35 day cycle and spotting for 10 days after end of period which is very annoying!! Gp could take bloods which would indicate if you are perimenopausal . I think the LH and FSH that they take on day 3 of your period?

snozzlemaid · 02/02/2014 21:49

I'm coming up to 42 and my cycle is now between 26-35, so you're not alone. Don't know what it means though.

AngelinaCongleton · 02/02/2014 21:50

Oh yes me too. Am 40

whatiswrongwithyou · 02/02/2014 21:51

Me too - 41 and they've also become much lighter.

WhatAFeline · 02/02/2014 21:53

Me too, also 42.

DownyEmerald · 02/02/2014 22:11

45 and they are about 24ish after years of 28. Bit pissed off because more often seems unfair. Also increased discharge generally. Which also seems a bit unfair. Losing fertility and increasing all the bad bits of being a woman!

winkywinkola · 02/02/2014 22:14

I know what you mean, downy. And being caught short too. Gah. PMT getting worse. Dh really notices when I'm due. He predicts and he's right. It's so annoying.

Yup - 44, cycle getting shorter since age 41-42. Now averages 23 days, after being 28 days on the dot ever since I was 13. And occasional mid-cycle bleeding as well, which seems to be linked to exercise. Gynae checkups indicated nothing sinister, although I've never had the blood test for perimenopause. I'd expected it to start later than this because my Mum was still having periods at nearly 60.

Passthecake30 · 02/02/2014 22:25

39 and mine have gone funky...used to be 24 days on the dot, now occasionally have to wait 7wks for an almighty flood. .not fun. I had tests at the docs but they didn't call so I presume everything ok? !

HanSolo · 02/02/2014 22:28

Mine used to be 35 days, like clockwork, now down to about 25-28, very ropey. Also- the daily flow is all different- heavy day 1, light day 2,3, tremendously heavy (flooding) day 4, 5, light day 6, 7.
Just so annoyingly unpredictable.

HanSolo · 02/02/2014 22:47

Actually, AIBU to have expected this later in life? Confused

I though menopause happened sort of 50s, 55 or so, not now.

Will I have to put up with this for 15 years until they stop?

Theonlyoneiknow · 02/02/2014 22:55

No, i am à bit miffed too! My mum went through ménopause at 50, i am 41 , will i have years of random irrégular périods ahead??!!
