Hi
I have been suffering with v heavy periods and flooding for quite some time now. I have also been getting headaches, had trouble sleeping sometimes and generally feeling exhausted a lot of the time.

My Dr has recommended going on to HRT to see if this helps. Am 47 so hadn't yet really thought of this as an option so was a bit shocked and didn't really ask many questions.

Has anyone experience of using HRT to control these symptoms or any other advice! Thanks.

This page from 'MenopauseMatters says that HRT should not be used primarily as a treatment for heavy or erratic periods. It might be worth reading up on HRT from that or other respectable sites and then talking to your doctor again about the pros and cons.

In your shoes I would be asking for a gynae referral to see if a cause can be established before embarking on a course of treatment. Common conditions which can cause heavy periods and flooding are fibroids, endometriosis and adenomyosis.
