My doctor is sending me of for a cortisone test.

Has anyone had one? I why would I need one?

I have had a quick look on google but it seems to be for varying reasons.

Hi, I had a synacthen test for addison's disease last Friday. They test cortisol levels as a baseline then they inject something and then test again after half an hour to see how the levels have responded. I also have coeliac disease and have suffered with acute sarcoidosis in the past. I had thought I might have a problem with my thyroid because on ongoing tiredness and palpiations. The endo said definitely not thyroid but we'll do this synacthen test (straight away) and I'll be in touch if anything comes up. He didn't say what it was for.

Now I've googled all about it and it does sound very likely but I'm really worried in case that's what it is. Although it would be a huge relief to have an answer too.

What kind of symptoms do you have? Do you have any other auto immune disorders?
