Bloody Women's Curse!

Please tell me I'm not the only woman who feels beyond shit on the first day of her period. My head's a shed; my body feels like an eighty year olds (takes me 5 mins just to crawl up the stairs). Pain killers help but don't take away the fact that I can barely move. I crawl back to bed at the first opportunity and leave DH to take over of DCs to fend for themselves. I am, for every other day of the month, a fit, active and responsible, working (p/t) parent. Have always suffered with PMT, though this seems to be abating as the First Day Hell is getting worse. No one I know seems to get it this badly. Please reassure me I'm not a complete wuss -are there any fellow sufferers out there?

Cyclical pain or pain that gets worse up to and including menses should always be checked out further by a gynae to ascertain the cause. Endometriosis cannot be ruled out here.

I would ask your GP to refer you to a gynae asap and do not take no for an answer. Such a problem as you describe is outside a GPs remit in any case. Do not put up with feeling like this!.

I agree with Attila. Please go to the GP. I have periods like this but I have endo diagnosis.

Cripes - you've scared me now! Off to docs this week then! Thanks for taking time to respond

please please get help! This is not normal, something is wrong, it is 2014 and there's no need for you to suffer like this. Get that referral.

good luck.

Don't be scared. You need to make a GP appointment as there are many reasons why you could be suffering like this (lots of them minor and easily treated.) A year ago this week I finally plucked up the courage to go to my GP with my gynae issues and she was amazing!
