Phenergan for insomnia

I'm been having a terrible time with insomnia for about the past month. I fall asleep OK but wake up after only an hour or 2. I've got Phenergan 25mg tablets (previously used for travel sickness), anyone used them short term to help with sleep pattern? I'd be grateful for any advice. TIA

I use Nytol One a Night. I also buy melatonin OTC when I am in my native country and the combo seems to work very well for me. My insomnia comes from child bereavement and can't really be 'fixed', tbh, so this combo works for me so I'm happy with it. A fellow bereaved parent 10 years on still experiences regular nightmares and recommended One a Night. It's brilliant.

Dc2 was prescribed phenergan by GP for sleep patterns. His is liquid and he has 5ml 30mins before bed for no longer than a week. But his problem is getting to sleep rather than staying asleep. We've used it on 2 separate occasions and it has worked within the week.

Thanks all. I had another terrible night last night, been up since just after 3 this morning. Think I'll try a Phenergan tonight as I feel and look terrible.

Hi justmuddling how's the insomnia? Are you taking phenergan and has it helped you? I'm glad I saw this post because it reminded me! Years ago my gp told me to buy phenergan over the counter for my insomnia and it really helped me. I've been going through a bad bout after a house move and long running renovations but somehow I'd forgotten about using phenergan and have been muddling along (sorry :) ) on various herbal products like valerian and sleep aid by sainsburys but nothing works much, A week ago I went to my gp another one, who gave me zopiclone which knocks me out most of the time but I don't want a to use these kind of meds for too long.
I m going to go and get some!!

Hi Nellymay. The Phenergan seems to be helping, but I've had to take it a bit earlier-about 9 o'clock, or I feel quite groggy in the morning. I tried taking 1x25mg tablet, although I think 2x25mg works better. Good luck!
