katymac - hot toddy. Whisky, honey, orange juice, boiling water then paracetamol with that. It'll help you sweat out the bugs. Sorry you're feeling so lousy, must have been all the convos about hot conservatories now you're feeling the heat. Take care.

Thanks I appreciate the sympathy

Feeling very shaky

My temp went up to 39.2 (does that mean I died?)

Now it's down to 38.2

I think I should loose the thermometer

And DD was away on a sleep over - what a waste

you must be a ghost now! have you taken powerful painkillers to lower temp? do you feel like you're getting a cold or sore throat?

Katymac · 30/07/2006 12:33

No - if anything I feel like I did when I had ME

I'm so tired & achy & it hurts [self pity]

what type of thermometer do you have?
take paracetomol, followed by ibubrofen(dont take if ashmatic or preg) 4 hours later, then paracetomol, four hours after, keep alternating, drink plenty of clear fluids and sponge down with tepid water.
hope you feel better soon, good sign that your temp is coming down.

Katymac · 30/07/2006 12:36

it beeps at me - it's too loud

thermoscan!
well they are pretty accurate.

sympathies........you must feel rotten

temp wise......anything over 40 would be dangerous, same as in kiddies. 40 is normally the seizure point in children liable to febrile convulsions, so I have always thought that 40 would be equally worrisome in adult. am no doctoer tho so I may be wrong, and don't mind if anyone tells me so.....always good to know if higher or lower is the danger one, for when I may be ill!!!

as for treating it for now.....like someone else has said...paracetomol and ibrufen. You can take paracetomol tho 4hrly, and ibrufen 8hrly, but read the side of the packs for how many is the limit in 24hrs.....I don't tend too and so have been known to inadvertantly overdose!

hope you start feeling better soon tho.....must be rotten

psychomum5 · 30/07/2006 12:50

and I repeat myself apparently too.....that shows I didn't re-read.

still wishing well thoughts tho

jampots · 30/07/2006 12:54

sympathies katymac - hope you're feeling a bit better today.

My nursey friend told me that when suffering a temperature one should take a warm shower as it lowers teh temperature all over. I know its hard when shivering to take your clothes off but it really makes you feel better. Obviously dont do it alone in the house - make sure dh is around

Katymac · 30/07/2006 12:58

Thanks - I had a shower earlier
Paracetamol
& I'm off to bed

I appreciate the sympathy
